Tarpan is a water-offering ritual dedicated to one’s ancestors. Pilgrims pour water mixed with sesame seeds and other sacred items into holy rivers, chanting specific mantras to honor deceased family members. Tarpan is often performed on the banks of the Ganga, Yamuna, or other sacred rivers, sometimes in conjunction with Pind Daan or Shraddh. It is believed to provide peace and blessings to ancestors and ensure family prosperity.
